Mint Hill Fire Department

The Mint Hill Fire Department (MHFD) has been a cornerstone of public safety in Mint Hill, North Carolina, since its establishment in 1954. Initially founded as a volunteer organization, MHFD has evolved over the decades to meet the growing needs of the community.
Early History and Evolution
In 1954, the Mint Hill Volunteer Fire Department was organized to provide essential fire protection services to the then-rural community. As the town expanded and the demand for emergency services increased, the department underwent significant transformations. Today, MHFD operates as a combination department, utilizing both career and volunteer personnel to deliver comprehensive emergency services.
Modern Operations and Infrastructure
MHFD provides fire suppression, medium-duty rescue, and first responder services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, covering nearly 40 square miles with a population of approximately 30,000 residents. The department responds to around 5,000 calls annually. MHFD operates out of two stations:
• Station #1: Located at 8313 Fairview Road
• Station #2: Located at 6773 Lebanon Road
Both stations are equipped to handle a variety of emergencies, ensuring prompt and effective response throughout the service area.
